WICKER PARK — Dia de Los Muertos, a festive remembrance of loved ones who've died, will take the spotlight at Wicker Park's Takito Kitchen this weekend.

To get into the spirit of the holiday, the taco bar at 2013 W. Division St. will display traditional Day of the Dead decor such as sugar skulls and an ofrenda, or altar, adorned with candles and marigolds.

Takito's team will be donning Dia de los Muertos face paint and the menu will include a special Milagro punch and Day of the Dead taco plate.

Made with a Milagro Anejo, an agave tequila, the punch mixes fresh juices and fruit, spices and marigold tops. The punch, which costs $7, is served in traditional clay cups.

The restaurant will also offer a Day of the Dead Taco plate featuring grilled veal heart, hibiscus tortilla, pickled squash, arugula, purple cayenne hot sauce and chapulines, which are grasshoppers.

The Day of the Dead taco plate is $16.

Takito Kitchen, 2013 W. Division St., Hours are 11 a.m to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Ph: 773-687-9620.
