One Dead, Two Injured in Shootings Citywide Since Wednesday Afternoon

CHICAGO — One man was killed and two others were injured, including a 15-year-old boy, in shootings since Wednesday afternoon. 

A 41-year-old man was shot and killed in Austin Wednesday afternoon.

• The most recent shooting happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday in Back of the Yards when a police officer shot a man who fired at officers in the 5100 block of South Wood Street.

• Around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, a 15-year-old boy was standing on the sidewalk in the 7000 block of South Maplewood Avenue in Chicago Lawn when an armed man got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots, striking the boy in his right cheek, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he is in stable condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
