WICKER PARK — Looking for family-friendly Halloween fun? Wicker Park's annual Boo-Palooza and an indoor roller skating party are headed to the neighborhood's namesake park this weekend along with local trick-or-treating opportunities.

Scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, the Halloween Scary Skate will take place inside of the Wicker Park Field House gym at 1425 N. Damen Ave.

Children are encouraged to bring a pair of roller skates, wear a costume and skate.

Admission to the event, which is sponsored by the Chicago Park District, is $1. For more information, call 312-742-7553.

Set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the sixth annual Boo-Palooza will include a costume parade and four costume contest divisions (children, adults, families and dogs), a pumpkin patch with pumpkin decorating, a corn maze, apple bobbing, "ghost Bingo," performances, activities and more.

In previous years, Boo-Palooza, which charges no admission fee, has drawn several thousands of costumed revelers to the park.

Before, during and after Boo-Palooza, nearly 50 local shops will be welcoming trick-or-treaters, too.  Check out the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce's map of participating shops here.

Boo-Palooza's costume parade around the fountain for children, families and adults is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday. Prizes from local shops will be awarded for the best three costumes in each category.

Boo-Palooza's dog costume parade is scheduled for noon Saturday. Prizes will be awarded to the best three dog costumes.

Doug Wood, secretary of the Wicker Park Advisory Council, outlined several suggestions for things to do at Boo-Palooza in an Our Urban Times post.
