ENGLEWOOD — Later this month St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center will break ground for a new ambulatory care center in Englewood.

The groundbreaking event runs from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 29 at the corner of 63rd Street and Stewart Avenue, which is where the three-story, 70,000-square-foot facility will be built, said hospital officials.

Upon completion in 2016 the hospital's Pediatric Asthma Clinic will move to the new center.

Derek Michaels, a spokesman for St. Bernard, said hospital is currently working on a plan to ensure employment opportunities exist for Englewood residents during both construction and at the new center.

The new center will sit across the street from Johnson College Prep, Team Englewood and Urban Prep for Young Men high schools.
