
CHICAGO — One woman was killed and at least seven others were injured, including two boys critically wounded, in separate shootings across the city since Saturday evening.
In the night's lone fatal shooting, a 18-year-old woman was shot in the head while sitting in her Belmont Cragin apartment.
The most recent shooting occurred about 5:15 p.m. Sunday when two people were shot in the 5100 block of West Hirsch Street, police said.
A 22-year-old man was shot in the ankle, and an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg, police said. No more information was available.
In other non-fatal shootings:
• At 2:25 p.m. Sunday a 20-year-old man was shot in the 1500 block of West 59th Street in West Englewood. He was walking when someone approached on foot and shot him in the abdomen, police said.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
• At 2:30 a.m. in the 1100 Block of North LeClaire Avenue when a 34-year-old man was standing on the corner and was shot in the hip, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
• A man in his 20s was shot in West Englewood about 2 a.m.
The man was walking on walking on the sidewalk in the 7000 Block of South Wolcott Avenue when someone fired shots, grazing him in the head. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition.
Police said the victim was a documented gang member.
• At around 12:15 a.m., a woman was shot in Austin.
A man and woman were crossing the street in the 1100 Block of South Menard Avenue when an someone approached from behind and open fire, Sedevic said.
The 20-year-old woman was shot on the right side of her body and transported to Mount Sinai in stable condition.
No one is in custody.
• Two teenage boys were in critical condition after being shot about 6:45 p.m. in Englewood.
The boys, 15 and 16, were walking in the 7200 Block of South Champlain Avenue when they were approached by unknown offenders, Sedevic said.
The offenders shot several times, striking both boys in the leg, Sedevic said. Both victims were transported to Comer Children's Hospital and listed in critical condition.
Police said, the 16-year-old victim is a documented gang member.
• At around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man was walking in the 4400 Block of West West End Avenue when someone shot him in the leg, Sedevic said.
The man was then taken to Mount Sinai and listed in stable condition, Sedevic added.
No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
