CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man was shot in Portage Park early Friday.

Around 2:10 a.m., the man was walking on the sidewalk with two other men in the 3200 block of North Central Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

His friends took him to Our Lady of Resurrection Hospital with a gunshot wound in his right foot and his condition later stabilized, Pacheco said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

Detectives are investigating the shooting.
