CHICAGO — Police are warning residents of the Near West Side of a rash of burglaries and robberies in the area in October.
The robberies occurred on Oct. 2 in the 1400 block of North Roosevelt Road around 7 p.m. and in the 1500 block of South Laflin Street on Oct. 6 around 8 a.m. During the incident, two black men around 5-foot-7 and 155 lbs displayed a handgun or assaulted the victims before rifling through their pockets and taking property, police said.
A rash of garage burglaries also occurred in the area during October.
The incidents occurred overnight in the following locations:
• On Oct. 3 in the 1800 block of West Iowa Street
• On Oct. 4 in the 1800 block of West Iowa Street
• On Oct 4 in the 2600 block of West Chicago Avenue
• On Oct. 5 in the 1900 block of West Grand Avenue
• On Oct. 12 in the 2000 block of West Walton Street
