JEFFERSON PARK — A man found dead near the Jefferson Park Transit Center was beaten and strangled, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

A person is in custody in connection with the murder, a police source said Thursday morning.

The man, who has not been identified, was found in a dumpster in the 4800 block of North Lipps Avenue just before noon Tuesday. He is believed to be in his 40s, according to a police report.

The man suffered multiple injuries, indicating he had been beaten and strangled, said Frank Shuftan, a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
