ROGERS PARK — The five-year-old Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce has moved its location from the back office of Quest Network Services to a Sheridan Road storefront.

The organization now has business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a street presence, said president Bill Morton.

"We went on this membership drive and so many members came on board that we could no longer facilitate them from the back office at Quest," he said Monday, the first day open at 7231 N. Sheridan Road.

He said the chamber, not to be confused with the more-established Rogers Park Business Alliance, went from 32 members to 55 over the summer. Members' dues are $120 a year.

Members now include businesses like Bullhead Cantina, Jarvis Gyro and Dogs, Pearl Dental Care and Rogers Bark.

Morton said his organization, which is made up entirely of volunteers, differs from others in the neighborhood by focusing entirely on local businesses.

The chamber doesn't oversee programs such as Special Service Areas, which are taxing districts located along business corridors. The business alliance officially handles those for the city.

But the chamber does help new small businesses incorporate with the state, set up bank accounts and obtain loans, if necessary.

"We take a personal approach to promoting and supporting local businesses," he said.
