WEST TOWN —  A pop-up dinner featuring dishes inspired by the street food cultures of Japan and Mexico is coming to West Town's Arami on Sunday.

Billed in a news release as "East-Meets-South of the Border Street Food," the menu is a collaboration between celebrity Chef Rick Bayless; Lisa Despres, who works as a chef at Bayless' Frontera Grill and Topolobampo; and Fred Despres, who is Arami's chef and Lisa Despres' husband.

On the Frontera grill website, the event, which has limited seating and will include a chance to mingle with all three chefs, is described as "something of a family affair" and elaborates on what a Japanese-Mexican mash-up looks like:

"Think ramen broths with classic pozole toppings, Mexican esquites sprinkled with togarashi, a mushroom taco with Japanese plum sauce, green ceviche hand rolls and green tea tres leches."

Seatings are planned for 5-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday at Arami, 1829 W. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $75 per person and can be bought here.

A cash bar with cocktails, beer and sake will also be available.
