CHICAGO — Those with a bit of cooking finesse could score a spot on "MasterChef" when the show stops in Chicago for an open casting call.

Participants can't be or have worked as professional chefs, and may not earn their main source of income from preparing or cooking food in a professional environment. Would-be competitors should bring a prepared dish to the casting call, where there will not be a kitchen for participants to warm or cook their meal.

Chefs will have three minutes to plate their dishes for the food judges and will need to provide dishes and utensils, including forks and knives. Those who are chosen for a callback will be told at the time of their audition or shortly afterward.

The cooking competition show will look for Chicago chefs from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at the Hotel Allegro, 171 W. Randolph St. Participants are asked to register online and bring a completed application to the casting call.

Those who can't make it to the open casting call may also send in a video submission by Oct. 25.

Another cooking show, "The Taste," stopped by Chicago in July during a casting call for chefs.
