ANDERSONVILLE — A trio of restaurateurs is partnering to open a new Andersonville restaurant named Summerdale in the former Marigold Restaurant.

Marty Fosse, co-owner of Andersonville eateries Anteprima, Ombra and Acre — and restaurant duo Jim Dragatsis and Sandeed Malhotra, former owners of Marigold — are behind the 80-seat restaurant scheduled to open at 5413 N. Clark in early October, according to a news release.

The comfort-food heavy menu detailed in the release has everything from buffalo wings, Swedish meatballs and fried mushrooms to cob salad, burgers, slow-cooked pork shoulder, chicken pot pies, mac and cheese and more.

The restaurant would also serve beer, wine and specialty cocktails.

Summerdale pays homage to the mid-1800s, a segment of Andersonville north of Foster Avenue that once bore the same name, and a train stop in the area around Berwyn Avenue that shared the name as well.

"Summerdale will be a real neighborhood spot," Fosse said in a statement, "the sort of restaurant that everyone wishes they had around the corner.”
