CHICAGO — A man was killed and two other people were wounded in a shooting in South Chicago Sunday night.

Around 11 p.m., someone in a light-colored car opened fire in the 8500 block of South Escanaba Avenue, fatally striking a 24-year-old man standing on a porch and two others on the street, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 24-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene after being shot in his head. He was a documented gang member, Estrada said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Miguel Hernandez, who lived on the block where he was shot.

An 18-year-old woman was struck in her left leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition stabilized. A 35-year-old man was struck in his right hand and taken to South Shore Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
