BUCKTOWN —  If you're a woman suffering from heartache — whether romantic, professional or personal — a new group health and wellness program, "Heartbreak Bootcamp" could be just the remedy.

"Heartbreak is the opposite direction of the bridal bootcamps. We wanted to focus on a group of people that need more attention and don't give it to themselves," said Kira Elliott, a personal trainer.

Elliott and Carrie Drapac own Comfy Fitness, a Bucktown training studio at 2115 N. Damen Ave. that wants to help women to feel "comfy" in their own bodies.

The women are partnering with Ilene Kastel, a licensed counselor who specializes in "breakup recovery," to debut Heartbreak Bootcamp, exclusively for women who are going through a break-up.

"It is not just a romantic breakup. It could be the loss of a pet, a best friend moving, a parents' divorce," Elliott said.

While Comfy Fitness will provide the bootcamp's fitness sessions, Kastel is putting together a lineup of speakers for Saturday seminars that will "help you focus on letting go and moving on with your life," Elliott said.

Set for Oct. 18, the opening seminar will target "the physical, psychological and social needs of women who have recently encountered an emotionally disruptive event in their lives," according to a news release.

Kastel added, "The mission and message of Heartbreak Bootcamp is to support women in a time where help isn't usually found. We are confident that Bootcampers will move through these five weeks to a happy and healthy holiday season."

The five week bootcamp, which costs $499, will offer two weekly group workouts and six seminars in total, all scheduled to take place at Comfy Fitness.
