CHICAGO — A shooting in Ashburn left a 20-year-old man dead and two people wounded Monday night, police said.

Around 8:40 p.m., the group was standing in the 7800 block of South Homan Avenue when a maroon car pulled up and a man got out of the passenger's side and opened fire, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

A 23-year-old woman was struck in her back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition stabilized. A 24-year-old man was listed in stable condition at Stroger Hospital after being shot in his right leg and torso, Estrada said.

The third victim, a 20-year-old man was struck in his head and torso. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, said Estrada.

The man was identified as Mondele Heard, of the 7800 block of South Sawyer Avenue. He was pronounced dead at Christ at 9:35 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
