ROGERS PARK — Philly's Best, a sports bar and restaurant, plans to open "late next week" at Sheridan Road and Pratt Boulevard, owner Michael Markellos said.

Markellos also said the new restaurant's menu was finished, featuring steak sandwiches, grinders, burgers, pizza salads and more. Most items are priced under $10.

Eventually, Philly's Best will serve beer, but Markellos doesn't expect to be granted a liquor license from the city until October.

When the booze is flowing at 6800 N. Sheridan Road, the outdoor patio will also be a beer garden, according to a post on Philly's Best's Facebook page.

Philly's Best was founded by Markellos in 1990 in Lakeview on Belmont Avenue. He now operates four locations, but plans to close his Evanston restaurant a couple of weeks before opening in Rogers Park.
