CHICAGO — Police are investigating the fatal daytime shooting of a man in Lawndale Sunday.

Around 2 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot while walking on the sidewalk in the 4100 block of West 16th Street when someone opened fire from a passing grey minivan.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition after being struck in his chest, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman. He was later pronounced dead.

No one is in custody for the shooting, which officers believe is gang-related, Sedevic said.
