Near West Side Shooting Leaves Teen, 17, Wounded

CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy is in stable condition after being shot on the Near West Side early Wednesday evening, according to police.

The shooting occurred in the 2100 block of West Maypole Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

The teen was standing on the sidewalk when someone walked up and opened fire, striking him in his upper right thigh, Estrada said.

He was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he is in stable condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
