Man Shot Dead in Bronzeville

CHICAGO — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Bronzeville Saturday night.

Officers were on patrol near the 4500 block of South Evans Avenue about 10 p.m. when they heard gunshots, police said. They then found a 24-year-old man lying on the ground, unresponsive, with gunshot wounds to his body.

He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:35 p.m. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Edward Davis, of the 5200 block of South Carpenter Avenue.

No one is in custody, and Area North detectives are investigating.
