COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — An exotic dancer kneed a man in the groin after snatching his wife's purse as the couple dined at Dave & Buster's Tuesday afternoon, prosecutors said.

Angela Jacqueline Lavalle, 19, was arrested after she and another woman snatched a Michael Kors purse from a diner at the Near North restaurant, prosecutors said. Then, when the victim's husband went after the purse thieves, the exotic dancer from New York kicked him in the groin and bit his fingers, Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said.

The couple was having lunch at Dave & Busters while waiting for a mechanic to finish working on their car across the street at a dealership, prosecutors said.

The man, 44, got up to go to the bathroom and noticed the two woman trying to distract another diner in an apparent attempt to steal her purse, prosecutors said. When he came out of the bathroom, his wife's purse was gone.

He spotted the two women a short time later and confronted them, Scaduto said.

Lavalle attacked the man, kneeing him in the groin, scratching at his eyes and spitting, Scaduto said. She also bit the man's fingers, she said.

The two women got away, but when the couple returned to the dealership, they found the stolen Michael Kors purse beneath a chair in the lobby, Scaduto said.

Lavalle and the other woman were caught on video camera hiding the purse beneath the chair, prosecutors said. Later, when Lavalle was arrested in the same area, police found a check made out to her for $600 from the victim's account.

Scaduto said Lavalle lives in Broadalbin, New York, and is an dancer at an adult entertainment venue.

She was ordered held on $30,000 bail during a brief court hearing Friday.
