You've made it to the long weekend, and our staff thought you should reward yourself by checking out some of the city's newest restaurants and bars. From a ritzy steakhouse backed by celebrities to a microbrewery built on a dream, here are our picks for the week.

• Kick off Labor Day weekend with a cold one from the city's newest microbrewery, the long-awaited Vice District Brewing Co.

It's been a long time coming, but the South Loop taproom opened Friday, featuring a microbrewery and have 14 house-made beers on tap. The opening lineup includes a black IPA, Extra Special Bitter, IPA, Blonde and Molasses Porter, plus a surprise collaboration that will be announced on opening day.

• Live like stars Bill and Giuliana Rancic, who are backers of the newly opened RPM Steak, home of the 42-ounce $155 Tomahawk steak. The Lettuce Entertain You restaurant features more than a dozen cuts of steak from around the globe, says Chef Doug Psatlis

"Each cut of steak is unique," he said. "I wanted to respect that by using the cooking methods that will bring out its special quality."

True to its chic steakhouse vibe, menu offerings are pricey: a 10-ounce Slagel club steak is on the lower end at $38, with the most expensive steak, a 42-ounce Tomahawk, priced at $155. Seafood ranges from $27 to $62 for Maine lobster. Appetizers, including a seared foie gras, are priced between $10 and $20.

• Bacino's opened its newest location in Lakeview this week. But you can expect more than its signature deep dish.

The Lakeview locale, which sits at the northern end of Diversey Harbor, will focus on fresh picnic fare like antipasti, thin-crust pizza and mix-and-match charcuterie plates.

"When you're here in the park, it's more like a picnic," she continued. "When you're on a boat, its not really like you want a fork and knife to cut a deep-dish pizza. It's more pick-up-and-go."

Check out Niu B Sushi & Noodles, the new South Loop sister restaurant of Niu Japanese Fusion Lounge.

Highlights include grilled robata skewers of bone-in lamb chop, chicken satay, jumbo shrimp or bacon-wrapped scallops, signature sushi and maki, and appetizers like oyster and sea urchin shooters.

The decor is inspired by the Izakaya Bars of Tokyo in the 1930s and features floor-to-ceiling windows, tufted leather couches and bamboo chairs with an open kitchen behind and a six-seat sushi bar.

Aligned with that theme is the cocktail list, which features sake flights and such drinks as the Osaka Mule with lemongrass-infused Grey Goose and tarragon syrup and the Old Fashioned of the East made with 12-year-old Yamazaki whiskey.
