COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Prosecutors say an Uptown woman visited a "friend with benefits" before she and another man with whom she is "more than friends" beat, stabbed and robbed him Sunday.

The 39-year-old Uptown woman, Michelle Carvajal, and Gyasi Rhodes, of Racine, Wisconsin, were charged with home invasion, armed robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after prosecutors say they robbed a man she considered to be a "friend with benefits," and stabbed him with a knife Carvajal normally used to pick her teeth.

Carvajal went to the home of the victim, a 50-year-old Uptown man, on Sunday and had sex with him, prosecutors said. After the victim gave her some money, someone knocked at the door.

Carvajal opened the door to let in her co-defendant, Rhodes, 34, who punched the victim and slammed his head into a wall, leaving a hole at the point of impact, prosecutors said.

Carvajal grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the back. Prosecutors said she knew the knife was in the apartment because she had previously used it to pick her teeth and clean her nails while visiting the victim.

The two robbers took about $1,000 form the victim's wallet an ran.

Both Carvajal and Rhodes were arrested and charged Wednesday, after being identified by the victim.

A Cook County judge order them each held on $350,000.
