DOWNTOWN — Cheerios hopes its new line of protein-packed cereals can help energize Chicagoans in the morning — but for commuters who are dragging Thursday, a free ride to work might do the trick, too.

The cereal brand has hired a fleet of local

pedalers for a promotion in Union Station Thursday morning that includes offering free pedicab rides.

Chicago Rickshaw's cycling cabbies will be delivering interested passengers anywhere Downtown between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Commuters can line up by the Jackson Boulevard entrance to snag a ride on a first-come, first-served basis.

From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the pedicabs will circle the Loop making deliveries of free bowls of cereal with milk or soymilk to Chicagoans who tweet their location to the Twitter account @cheerios using the hashtag #CheeriosProteinChi.
