Englewood Shooting Wounds Man, Four Others Shot Since Tuesday Morning

CHICAGO — A 30-year-old man shot while on his porch in West Englewood was one of five people shot since Tuesday morning.

The man was in the 5700 block of South Throop Street when he was shot in his shoulder and leg around 10:37 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

No one is in custody for the shooting. The shooting is gang-related, police said.

Several hours earlier, a 27-year-old man was shot during a possible drive-by in East Garfield Park. The man was standing in the 3800 block of West Ferdinand Street when he was shot in his face and twice in his shoulder. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, and a silver car was seen fleeing the area, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, which occurred around 5:55 p.m. The man is a documented gang member, according to police.

Around 4:35 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot while sitting in the passenger seat of a car driving in the 2800 block of North Major Avenue in Belmont Cragin. The driver of the car he was in got into an argument with people in another car, who opened fire.

The man was transported by family to Our Lady of Resurrection Hospital after being shot in his head. He was transferred to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, Pacheco said.

The driver of the car is a documented gang member. No one is in custody for the shooting.

Earlier, two people were injured in separate shootings in South Austin and Englewood.
