CHICAGO — Three people were shot and wounded, including a 16-year-old girl, in daylight hours Tuesday.

Most recently, a 35-year-old man was shot in his chest in the 2000 block of West 79th Street in Gresham around 5 p.m., according to Officer Ronald Gaines, a police spokesman.

He is in stable condition, and police do not know what hospital he was taken to, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for this shooting.

About an hour and a half earlier, someone shot a man, 26, in his leg in the 7300 block of South Hermitage Avenue in West Englewood, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

Estrada said police have not been able to confirm what happened, as the victim has not been forthcoming with details.

He is in good condition after being transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Earlier, a teenaged girl was wounded in a drive-by shooting in Avalon Park, police said.

Around 1:30 p.m., the girl, 16, was in the 1800 block of East 85th Street when someone from within a passing car opened fire, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.

After being shot in her hand, she took herself to Trinity Hospital where she is in good condition, Sweeney said.

No further information was immediately available.
