Man Injured in Auburn Gresham Triple Shooting Monday Dies

CHICAGO — Authorities said a man who was one of three people shot in Auburn Gresham Monday evening has died.

Around 10:25 p.m., the man, a girl and a woman were standing on the sidewalk in the 7800 block of South Winchester when a dark car pulled up and someone exited, opening fire, according to Officer Ronald Gaines, a police spokesman.

The 20-year-old man was shot multiple times and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Gaines said.

The man, who has been identified as Joel Wade, of the 7300 block of South Emerald Avenue, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 4:34 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The girl, 16, was shot in her arm and taken to Holy Cross Hospital where she was in stable condition, while the woman, 26, was shot in her leg and taken to Stroger Hospital. She was also in stable condition.
