Englewood Shooting Kills Man

CHICAGO — A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in Englewood Monday night, police said.

The man was standing in the 7100 block of South Green Street around 6:53 p.m. when someone in a white van opened fire. The man was struck in his side and twice in his leg and transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman.

Arnold Dearies, of the 7300 block of South Champlain Avenue was pronounced dead at 7:49 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, which listed him as 26 years old.

After the shooting the car fled Northbound on Green Street. No one is in custody for the shooting, Gaines said.
