CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in West Englewood Sunday night.

The teen was standing with a group of men in an alley in the 5900 block of South Justine Street when another group of men approached and opened fire around 8:30 p.m.

The boy was struck in his face and head and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The teen was pronounced dead on the scene at 9 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Officials there identified the boy as Jabari Scurlock, of the 1000 block of West 78th Street.
