CHICAGO — The second year of Bronzeville Nights will give participants an opportunity to contribute to a community mural.
The series of events connects residents with local businesses, entertainment and culture. This year, participants will also be able to help paint a community mural at 45th and Cottage Grove Avenue.
Another local mural will be completed by an artist during the event series. Organizers are still accepting proposals from artists for that mural.
The most interesting part of the event is "the fact that there will be entertainment actually happening inside as well as outside of the businesses. And it's interactive," organizer Christyn Henson said.
"It's not just, like, 'Oh, I'm going to sit and watch the band.' It's usually people are singing along or we've done a skin paint or a sip and sculpt.
"And so it's a really good opportunity not to just see some of the quality businesses that they may not know exist, but just an opportunity to kind of engage with the community."
A $5 donation is encouraged. The participating businesses will change at each event.

Wednesday at 43rd Street and Forrestville Avenue
Aug. 27 at 43rd Street and Ellis Avenue
