Shootings Wound at Least Seven, Including Girl, 16

CHICAGO — Two 16-year-olds are among at least seven people wounded in shootings across the city since Friday night.

In the most recent shooting, a 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg about 1 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of South Wood Street, police said. She was taken in fair condition to Stroger Hospital.

Two people were shot about 12:30 p.m. during the Bud Billiken Parade, police said. Another man was injured by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the 35th Street Green Line station about 11 a.m.

Other incidnets include:

• Two men are in serious condition after being shot around 5:50 a.m. in West Englewood.

The men, ages 21 and 32, were shot in a possible drive-by in the 1400 block of West 73rd Street, Gaines said.  

The 21-year-old was shot in his stomach, while the 32-year-old was shot in his leg. Both of them were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

• Around 9:40 p.m. Friday, a boy, 16, was shot in West Pullman. 

The boy was standing on the sidewalk in the 200 block of West 118th Street when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Officer Ronald Gaines, a police spokesman.

He suffered from a gunshot wound in his leg, and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital where he is in good condition, Gaines said.

Police said he has gang affiliations. No one is in custody for this shooting.

• Around 11:50 p.m. Friday, a 32-year-old man was shot in his back in North Lawndale. 

He was standing outside in the 1500 block of South Christiana Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Gaines.

He is in stable condition after being transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.
