CHICAGO  —  It's going to be a beautiful day — take advantage of it! Watch an adorable rubber duck race down the river, or drink some free wine on a patio. Or both! Tonight is also your last chance to catch a movie in Wicker Park! We're here to help.

1. Take Part in a Ridiculously Cute Race (For a Good Cause): The Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby kicks off today at 10 a.m., so take a break from work to watch 50,000 little rubber ducks race down the river. Want to join the fun? "Adopt" a duck for $5, a "quack pack" of 6 ducks for $25 or a whole flock of 24 for $100. If your ducks are the fastest, you win sweet prizes — and the money goes to Special Olympics Illinois. Free to watch. Festivities start at 10 a.m. at 400 N. Michigan Ave., but the race itself is at 1 p.m. on the Columbus Drive bridge.

2. See a Movie in Wicker Park: It's Thursday, and let's be honest: You need some Sean Connery in your life. You're in luck! "The Hunt for Red October" is playing in Wicker Park. Bring a blanket and some food and wine if you want — but clean up after yourself, OK? Manners, people. Free. Movie starts at 8 p.m. at 1425 N. Damen Ave.

3. Drink Free Wine: Pizza Rustica is hosting a wine-tasting with Heritage Wine Cellars and will be serving up "summery, slightly sparkling reds" on the house. Snag a patio seat and order a pizza while you're at it. Wine tasting from 6-8 p.m. at 3908 N. Sheridan Road.

4. Serious Night out at the Theatre in Hamilton Park:  Geared for folks age 14 and up due to mature content and violence, Collaboraction's "Crime Scene: Let Hope Rise 2014," is the sequel to last year's successful production and parks tour. Using interviews, articles and online comments, the play raises critical questions about violence in our city and examines how we can work together to "let hope rise." Free. Performance runs 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 513 W. 72nd St.

5. Buy Fresh Food at the Lincoln Square Evening Market.  Pop by the market on your way home from work and enjoy fresh veggies, fruits and baked goods. The market runs 4-8 p.m. Parking lot next to the CTA Brown Line "L" station at 4848 N. Western Ave.
