CHICAGO — A 40-year-old man was shot while standing on a Rogers Park sidewalk early Friday morning, police said.

The incident occurred in the 7300 block of North Damen Avenue about 1:25 a.m., said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

A dark-colored minivan pulled up near him, a gunman got out and started shooting at the man, Alfaro said.

The wounded man was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where he is in stable condition after being shot in his right leg, Alfaro said.

The man was one of at least three people shot overnight in Chicago. A man was killed in South Shore and a 16-year-old boy was wounded in Austin.
