COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A member of the Conservative Vicelords street gang believed 25-year-old William Allen to be in a rival gang when he and an accomplice fatally shot him, prosecutors said.

Deonta Noble, 20, of the 7500 block of South Phillips Avenue, was charged with murder and attempted murder after prosecutors said he walked up to Allen and a woman in the 3000 block of East 81st Street on July 6 and began shooting.

Allen was sitting with the woman on a porch when Noble and an uncharged co-offender approached them and asked Allen if he was in a gang, prosecutors said. Noble's accomplice accused Allen of being a member of the Mafia gang, and both men pulled out guns and started shooting.

Allen, shot in the head, died the next day, prosecutors said. The woman escaped with a gunshot wound to her thigh.

Noble and his accomplice were identified as the shooters by their Facebook pages, prosecutors said.

Police set up surveillance at Noble's last known hangouts and spotted him standing on the corner of Muskegon Avenue and 82nd Street on Monday around 7:30 p.m., according to a police report.

He was arrested on a warrant.

Noble has a history with the Conservative Vicelords street gang, the report states.

He was ordered held without bail Wednesday by a Cook County judge.
