WEST TOWN — Art, cherry pie and damn fine coffee — that's the gist of a "Twin Peaks"-themed art show taking place Tuesday at Hoosier Mama Pie Co., 16181/2 W. Chicago Ave.

Credit for the idea goes to artist and Hoosier Mama regular James Zark, who in March was at the shop partaking in his once-a-week pie-eating habit and digesting the news that the cult classic TV series from the early 1990s would be released on Blu-ray (also on Tuesday).

Janet Fuller schools Jon on the amazing-ness of the Hoosier Mama Pie and the cult-classic "Twin Peaks":

"I thought it would be cool to do some event [at Hoosier Mama] because the show is nonstop pie and coffee, and because I'm an artist and I know other artists," said Zark, a fan of "pretty much all things David Lynch."

The tiny Hoosier Mama Pie Co. will host a Twin Peaks-themed art show July 29, complete with cherry pie and coffee.

Hoosier Mama owner Paula Haney didn't need much convincing, and the shop's cramped quarters make it a perfectly quirky venue, said Zark, who lives down the street.

The seven local artists who will display their work, which is heavy on the pie references, include illustrators Sean Dove and Luke Smarto and photographer Steve Calaveda. Admission is free; prints and originals will be for sale.

Zark, who specializes in digital illustration, will have at least one piece in the show. He made the poster promoting the event.

"They got a cherry pie that'll kill ya," it reads, quoting the show's protagonist, FBI Agent Dale Cooper.

The show runs from 7-10 p.m. with appropriate refreshments: a slice of cherry pie and cup of coffee for $5.

Hoosier Mama will be closed for business that day.
