GLADSTONE PARK — LifeSource celebrated on Tuesday the opening of a new blood donation center in Gladstone Park with a ribbon cutting.

The new LifeSource blood donation center, 5316 N. Milwaukee Ave., is located in the Gladstone Corners strip mall, and will be more convenient for donors traveling by public transportation, according to a statement from the company.

LifeSource was forced to close its blood donation center in the Six Corners Shopping District to make way for a new PetSmart.

Ald. John Arena (45th) announced in April that the pet supplies superstore would take over LifeSource's location as well as the long vacant storefront once occupied by Blockbuster next door at 4640 W. Irving Park Road.

PetSmart is expected to open at Six Corners in September, although the store opening is not listed on its website.

Donors can schedule an appointment by calling 877-543-3768 or going to lifesource.org.
