GRAND CROSSING — Jazz lovers will be treated to a free night of music from some local artists as part of an annual event on the South Side.

The free event runs from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Gary Comer Youth Center, 7200 S. Ingleside Ave., and performers include the Chicago-based band Magic Carpet. Free parking is available in the center's parking lot across the street.

Senyah Haynes, special events and volunteer coordinator for the youth center, said the public is invited "to join us for a relaxing evening of smooth sounds and delicious complimentary appetizers catered by Chef Wendy and the Gary Comer Youth Center culinary team."

She added that children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult, and the event is being presented its Uplift Program, which is "dedicated to uplifting our adults, who then empower our youth."
