Body Found in West Englewood Lot

CHICAGO — The body of an apparently homeless man was found in a vacant lot in West Englewood Friday, authorities said.

The body was discovered about 2:30 p.m. in a lot in the 6800 block of South Laflin Street, police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 4 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

The man was identified as Nicholas Vaughan, 25, according to the Medical Examiner's Office. The body was badly decomposed, authorities said, and it was unclear if the man sustained any trauma.

A death investigation is underway. No more information was available.
