CHICAGO — Police are investigating if there's a connection between a shooting and a crash involving a car and a CTA bus in Uptown Thursday night.

Both incidents occurred on Marine Drive north of Argyle Street at 5:50 p.m., said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

Police responded to shots fired in the area and learned that a bus had been rear-ended by another car in a hit-and-run.

No one was hurt in the incident, and police recovered shell casings and a bullet from the scene.

In an email to constituents Friday, Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) said the shooting was gang related and "involved several individuals on foot as well as in a vehicle."

Lincoln District police are investigating the incident, Osterman said, and additional gang crime and tactical units have been deployed to the area.
