CHICAGO — Drivers heading home on their evening commute Thursday were greeted with unexpected sight: a man on a bicycle.

State troopers confirmed a cyclist was riding on the outbound Kennedy Expy. near Armitage Avenue Thursday evening about 6 p.m.

The cyclist was "quickly escorted" from the expressway by Illinois Department of Transportation workers, a state trooper said. The incident did not affect traffic, and there were no crashes as a result, he added.

The cyclist was not cited or arrested.
