CHICAGO — A northwest suburban man hit a motorcyclist while driving drunk in Jefferson Park Monday morning, police said.

Mike Kowalski, 37, of Mount Prospect, was charged with two felonies — aggravated driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident — and is due in bond court Wednesday.

Kowalski was driving a Mazda 626 that collided into a motorcycle in the 5900 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue about 9:35 a.m., police said.

The 47-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition.

Kowalski was traveling west on Bryn Mawr and turned left on Marmora Avenue. As he did so, he crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the motorcycle.

Kowalski fled the scene, but was arrested 45 minutes later in the 6600 block of West Hurlbut Street.
