Man Fatally Shot in South Austin

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old died after being fatally shot Sunday in South Austin.

Around 5:40 p.m., the man was with a 19-year-old in the 5200 block of West Lake Street when a man walked up to the car the two were sitting in and fired shots into the car, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a police spokeswoman.

The 21-year-old was shot in his head and died on the scene. The 19-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition after being shot in his right thigh, Cooper said.

Donald Ray, of the 2000 block of West Adams Street, was pronounced dead at 6:11 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
