CHICAGO — Police shot a man in Englewood Saturday night, bringing the total of police-involved shootings since Friday up to five.

Around 9 p.m., police found a group of men drinking on a front porch in the 7000 Block of South Hermitage Avenue, according to a police department statement.

When officers approached the porch, the man ran away, reaching for a gun in his waistband, police said. The man then ran into an alley and pointed his gun at an officer, so the officer shot the man, according to the statement.

The man was transported to an area hospital.

No officers were injured and the investigation is ongoing, the statement said.

About 2½ hours earlier, police shot a man in Auburn-Gresham. Friday night, police shot a man in Portage Park around 10 p.m.

Around 1 p.m. Friday, another police shooting occurred in Rogers Park, which followed the first of the five police shootings, which happened in Greater Grand Crossing.
