Two Women Shot, One Fatally, in West Garfield Park

CHICAGO — One woman is dead and another wounded after a shooting in West Garfield Park Thursday afternoon.

Both of the victims were 21, police said. The incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the 3800 block of West Monroe Street.

Shambreyh Barfield, of the 6300 block of South Winchester Avenue, was shot in her head and pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 5:06 p.m., according to authorities.

The other woman was shot in her arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
