CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man shot in Canaryville was one of four men shot overnight in several incidents on the South and West sides, police said.

Around 12:30 a.m., the 19-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 4300 block of South Union Avenue when someone approached and shot him in his right elbow and foot. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

Two people are being questioned in the shooting, Alfaro said.

A little bit over an hour before a man was shot in the 100 block of North Lockwood Avenue in South Austin, he said.

Around 11:20 p.m., officers responded to the block and discovered a 21-year-old man shot in his right thigh. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition. The man, who police say is a documented gang member, was initially uncooperative with police, Alfaro said.

Around 10:45 p.m., two men were standing with a group of men in a parking lot in the 5500 block of South Fairfield Avenue in Gage Park when someone in a black SUV opened fire.

The men, both 18, were taken to Mount Sinai. The first victim was in stable condition after he was grazed in his buttocks and the second was in serious condition after being shot in the leg and face, Alfaro said.
