ENGLEWOOD —The Greater Englewood Community Development Corporation will host a free grant writing workshop aimed at helping nonprofits secure funding.

The workshop runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Greater Englewood, 6957 S. Halsted St. The workshop will show participants steps to take prior to writing a grant, teaching important components for an effective proposal and how to develop a proposal for a contract bid or grant.

Organizers say grants are usually the main source of funding for nonprofits, which often lack the ability to provide certain services due to funding.

However, while the workshop is aimed at nonprofits it is open to anyone including college students.

The idea for the workshop resulted from the organization's 2014 Community Asset Report, which organizers say was designed to be a comprehensive resource guide for business owners, investors and community leaders looking for opportunities in Englewood.

To reserve a seat at the workshop, call 773-891-1310.
