SOUTH LOOP — Chicago-based Dollop Coffee Company will open its fifth location Monday in the South Loop.

Owner Dan Weiss announced Tuesday that the coffee shop will open in the Fisher Building at 343 S. Dearborn St.

"We are so thrilled to be starting a Dollop in the South Loop neighborhood," Weiss said in the announcement. "It's truly an ideal spot for this new concept — a little bit of everything for a little bit of everyone."

Lizzie Schiffman chats about a cool check-out feature of the new Dollop location:

As at previous locations, the Fisher Building cafe will serve java supplied by locally-based Metropolis Coffee Company, and baked goods from Hoosier Mama Pie Company, another hometown hero.

"Combine Dollop's unparalleled retail touch with Metropolis' storied tradition of sourcing and roasting the finest coffee, add food from Hoosier Mama Pie Company, and well, ... we have a new Chicago staple," said Tony Dreyfuss, co-owner of Metropolis, in a statement announcing the new location.

"I think we will fit right in to the community, and we feel like collaborating with our friends at Metropolis is the perfect next step for us," Weiss said, calling the Fisher building the "perfect location" for his new concept.

The shop was designed and decorated by Paul Leisen of LeisenDesign, who also designed the Streeterville Dollop location.

The shop will feature two separate checkout lines: one for customers dining in, and a "fast lane" for people grabbing coffee or a bite to go.
