BRIDGEPORT — With the return of reliably warm weather, the Chicago Park District and local park advisory councils are ready to debut the new season of Night Out in the Parks.
Now in its second year, the family-friendly series of programs includes concerts, theater performances, movie screenings, professionally led dance instruction and more. Almost all of the events are free.
"Anyone got a lawn chair? Anyone got a blanket? That's it. You're in. That's the price of admission," Mayor Rahm Emanuel quipped last month while announcing the return of the citywide program.
New this year, the park district is offering guests some incentives to attend the events, including a "selfie" contest for Lollapalooza passes and the introduction of "park points," which can be redeemed for discounts and freebies.
