Man Hit by Van in Auburn Gresham Friday Has Died

CHICAGO — A man who was hit by a van while darting between cars in Auburn Gresham on Friday has died.

The 19-year-old was cutting across several lanes of traffic in the 8700 block of South Ashland Avenue about 8:20 p.m., police said. After he passed northbound traffic, he was hit by a van in a southbound lane.

Marvell White, of the 9000 block of South Racine Avenue, was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, authorities said. He died at the hospital at 4:24 p.m. Sunday.

The van's driver, a 65-year-old woman, was cited with failure to exercise due caution of a pedestrian in a roadway.
