CHICAGO — A suburban man has been charged in an Easter hit-and-run that killed a 64-year-old woman in Austin.

The crash occurred about 9:42 p.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of West North Avenue, police said.

Prosecutors said Maurice McDowell hit pedestrian Jennie Davis, who lived nearby in the 5500 block of West Le Moyne Avenue, and sped off.

McDowell, 32, of the 1800 block of South 10th Avenue in Maywood, was arrested and charged with three felonies: aggravated DUI causing accidental death, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death, and failure to report an accident or death.

McDowell, who was wanted on a warrant for a parole violation, was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI.

McDowell was slated to appear in bond court Wednesday.
