CHICAGO — A 19-year-old was shot to death after he crashed his car in West Town at the end of a Saturday morning car chase, authorities said.

The shooting, believed to be gang-related, occurred at 2:30 a.m. in the 400 block of North Ashland Avenue when a two-car chase resulted in the victim crashing his car into two vehicles and a concrete median, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

After the crash, shooters emerged from the other car and fired at the 19-year-old driver, who was still in the car. The shooters then fled eastbound.

The victim, identified as Nicolas Ramirez, a 19-year-old from the 3900 block of South Rockwell Avenue in Brighton Park, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

After the shooting, police found an abandoned car in an alley in the 1400 block of West Grand Avenue that may be connected with the incident.
